K'gari Clean Up 2025
There’s something truly special about K’gari. Known as the world’s largest sand island, it stretches over 120 kilometres along the southeastern coast of Queensland and is home to ancient rainforests, freshwater lakes, rugged headlands, and an incredibly diverse ecosystem. It’s a place where dingo tracks cross the sand at sunrise, and crystal-clear creeks cut through towering dunes—pure, untamed Australia.
But with increasing tourism and wild weather patterns, even a place as remote as K’gari isn’t immune to pollution. That’s why we took part in K’gari Clean Up 2025, a collective mission to help preserve this incredible environment for future generations.
The cleanup brought together 4WD clubs, sponsors, and volunteers from all over the country. The island was divided into sections, and each team focused their efforts on a stretch of coastline, removing everything from tangled fishing nets to plastic waste, abandoned gear, and the occasional oddity—we found a surprising number of toothbrushes.
It was gritty work, but it was also rewarding. Every bag filled was a reminder of what we can achieve when the off-road community comes together for something bigger than ourselves.
K’gari isn’t just a place we drive through—it’s a place we need to look after.
If you ever get the chance to participate in something like this, jump in and get your hands dirty. Do your part. Leave it better than you found it. 💙
