4. Warranty Registration & the Extended Warranty Program

4.1 Registration is optional

Registration of your Carbon Offroad product is completely optional. It is not a condition of your standard warranty coverage and does not limit, replace or reduce any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

You may register your product when you purchase it, at a later date, or not at all. Your standard warranty rights remain the same whether your product is registered in the portal or you choose to keep your own proof of purchase.

Registration is completed online at: carbonoffroad.com.au/pages/warranty-signup

4.2 Why register

The Carbon Offroad Free Extended Warranty is provided for customer convenience. Registering your product can help us support you more efficiently by allowing us to:

  • Keep your proof of purchase and product details on file.
  • Identify your product model, purchase date, dealer and batch details more quickly.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, warranty enquiries, product updates and support history.
  • Offer optional access to Carbon Offroad community updates, gear drops, events and product information, where you choose to receive them.

4.3 Extended Warranty Program

As a free benefit for registering, Carbon Offroad Australia offers additional voluntary warranty cover on top of the standard warranty.

Product Additional cover added
All Carbon winches +2 years on the Electrical Warranty and Water Ingress Protection, taking each from 5 years to 7 years from the date of purchase.
Recovery gear +1 year on the materials and workmanship warranty, taking it from 1 year to 2 years from the date of purchase.

All Carbon Winches

Additional cover added +2 years on the Electrical Warranty and Water Ingress Protection, taking each from 5 years to 7 years from the date of purchase.

Recovery Gear

Additional cover added +1 year on the materials and workmanship warranty, taking it from 1 year to 2 years from the date of purchase.

The Limited Lifetime Mechanical Warranty already applies for the life of the product in the hands of the original purchaser, so it is unchanged by registration.

There is no cost to register and no cost for the additional cover.

4.4 Eligibility for the Extended Warranty Program

To qualify for the additional cover, all of the following must be met:

  • The product was purchased from carbonoffroad.com.au or an authorised Carbon Offroad Australia dealer.
  • The product is registered in the Carbon Offroad Digital Portal within 90 days of the date of purchase.
  • Valid proof of purchase is supplied at the time of registration.
  • Registration is made by, and the product remains with, the original purchaser.

The additional cover is voluntary and non-transferable. It attaches to the original purchaser only and does not pass to any subsequent owner.

4.5 Conditions applying to extended cover

  • All exclusions, limitations and claim procedures set out in this Warranty Policy, including Section 12 (Warranty Exclusions) and Section 13 (When Warranty Coverage May Be Declined), apply equally to the additional cover.
  • The additional cover applies to non-commercial, recreational use only.
  • Carbon Offroad Australia may vary or withdraw the Extended Warranty Program at any time for future purchases. Any additional cover already granted to a registered product will be honoured for the balance of its term.

4.6 If you do not register

If you do not register, or register outside the 90-day window, you still receive the full standard warranty set out in this policy, and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are entirely unaffected.

To make a warranty claim, you will still need to provide reasonable proof of purchase and enough information for us to assess the product, the issue and the circumstances of use.

5. What This Warranty Covers

This Warranty Policy covers eligible manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship during the applicable warranty period.

A manufacturing defect means a fault caused by the way the product was manufactured, assembled or supplied. It does not include damage caused by incorrect installation, electrical overloading, transit damage handled via Shipping Protection, normal wear and tear, poor maintenance or unauthorised modification.

6. How to Make a Warranty Claim

If you experience an issue with your product, do not remove it from the vehicle immediately unless it is unsafe to leave installed. Many operational issues can be resolved through remote troubleshooting.

Where to start:

  • If your product is registered in the Carbon Offroad Digital Portal: Contact Carbon Offroad Australia directly using the details in Step 1 below.
  • If your product is not registered in the portal: Please first contact the dealer or retailer where you bought the item. They are your first point of contact for warranty and support. Nothing in this requirement affects your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which you may exercise against the retailer regardless of whether you have registered.
  1. Contact Support: Email warranty@carbonoffroad.com.au or call 1300 780 141 with your proof of purchase, order number, product model or serial number, clear photos or videos of the issue, and photos of the installation wiring.
  2. Remote Diagnosis: Our team will review your data, voltage readings or symptoms to attempt a remote diagnosis.
  3. Inspection & Return: If physical assessment is required, we will issue formal written return instructions. Do not ship goods to us without prior written approval. Unidentified packages may be rejected or delayed while we confirm the sender, product and claim details.

7. What We Will Do When a Claim Is Made

Once a warranty claim is submitted and assessed, Carbon Offroad Australia will determine the appropriate remedy based on the product type, stock availability and your statutory rights under the ACL. Remedies may include remote troubleshooting, parts deployment, component repair, full product replacement, or a refund where required by law.

8. Warranty Claim Expenses & Freight

Returning to Carbon: For items that can be easily posted, you may be asked to return the component for assessment. If the product is confirmed to have a warrantable defect, we will reimburse reasonable return freight costs where required by law.

Returning to You: If the claim is approved, Carbon Offroad Australia covers the freight costs to ship the repaired or replacement item back to you.

Rejected Claims: If a claim is rejected due to misuse, wear and tear, or no fault found, the customer is fully responsible for all return freight costs.

Heavy or Installed Items: For winches or large components, please contact us prior to removal so we can coordinate a reasonable inspection process.

9. Carbon Winch Warranty: All Models, All Purchase Dates

This section applies to all eligible Carbon winches, regardless of model, type, pulling capacity or date of purchase. It replaces all previous tiered winch warranties, including any separate terms that previously applied to ATV, utility, trailer, 4x4 or truck winches, or to winches purchased before 1 January 2025.

Carbon Offroad Australia warrants to the original purchaser that the following voluntary warranty applies to non-commercial, recreational use. This voluntary warranty is non-transferable:

  • Limited Lifetime Mechanical Warranty: Covers eligible manufacturing defects in the gearbox, clutch, planetary gears, driveshaft, brake and drum. “Lifetime” means for so long as the original purchaser owns the winch.
  • 5-Year Electrical Warranty: Covers eligible manufacturing defects in the motor, solenoid and wireless receiver. Extended to 7 years where the product is registered under Section 4.
  • 5-Year Water Ingress Protection: Covers eligible water-related failure of the motor or gearbox. Extended to 7 years where the product is registered under Section 4. This does not cover remotes supplied with winches, which are splash-resistant but not waterproof.

Where a winch was purchased under an earlier Carbon Offroad warranty that provided greater cover in any respect, the more favourable terms continue to apply to that product.

10. Recovery Gear Warranty

Carbon Offroad Australia warrants to the original purchaser that eligible Carbon Offroad kinetic recovery ropes, soft shackles, winch lines and static straps are free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase, extended to 2 years from the date of purchase where the product is registered under Section 4.

This voluntary warranty applies to non-commercial, recreational use and is non-transferable.

11. Recovery Gear Safety & Use

Recovery gear is designed for demanding conditions but is not indestructible. Customers must inspect recovery gear before each use and must not use gear that is cut, frayed, contaminated or overloaded. Incorrect use can result in serious injury or death. Use gear strictly in accordance with supplied instructions and mandatory safety labelling standards.

12. Warranty Exclusions

To the maximum extent permitted by law, this voluntary warranty, including any additional cover granted under the Extended Warranty Program, strictly does not cover faults or damage caused by:

  • Misuse, abuse, accidents, collisions, overloading or shock-loading static gear.
  • Incorrect installation or incorrect electrical wiring.
  • Commercial, industrial, mining, fleet, trade or professional recovery use.
  • Hoisting, lifting or use as a crane device.
  • Failure to install the supplied isolator switch or an approved failsafe fuse or switch.
  • Inadequate battery size or inadequate power supply.
  • Normal wear and tear, cosmetic deterioration, surface corrosion or UV fading.
  • Wear items including winch rubber, urethane seals, brushes or synthetic rope wear, unless defective on arrival.
  • Removal and reinstallation labour costs.

13. When Warranty Coverage May Be Declined

Warranty coverage will be declined to the extent that an excluded condition, such as commercial use, hoisting, incorrect wiring, lack of an isolator switch, or operating with an undersized battery, caused or contributed to the fault.

14. Dealer, Agent & Employee Authority

No dealer, agent or representative is authorised to modify, extend or add to this voluntary Warranty Policy unless approved explicitly in writing by Carbon Offroad Australia management.
