Why Do You Need Upper Control Arms?

When you lift your 4WD, it alters the wheel alignment, which can lead to premature tyre wear and affect handling if not corrected.

Upper control arms provide the necessary adjustment to correct alignment at higher lift heights.

When lifting or modifying an IFS 4WD, the first sign of issues is usually alignment and front suspension performance. Minor adjustments can be made with camber bolts, but larger lifts require more correction.

Upgraded suspension components such as longer travel shocks or spring kits may cause upper control arms to contact the chassis or springs. Increased arm angles also place additional stress on ball joints and can limit movement.

With lifted suspension, OEM ball joints operate at extreme angles, and wider tyres may not clear factory control arms. This can lead to excessive wear or even failure of suspension components.

Replacing factory upper control arms with a properly designed aftermarket solution improves clearance, strength, and alignment for lifted vehicles.
